Police Identify Man Killed in Delaware Motorcycle Wreck

The man who died Saturday night in a motorcycle crash in Delaware has been identified as a 33-year-old Warwick, Md. man.

Police on Sunday said that Nicholas E. Russo was riding a 2007 Honda CBR1000 motorcycle north on US-13 in the left lane just north of Marl Pit Road. Russo was among several other motorcycles, Delaware State Police said, and the bikes "began splitting cars that were traveling in the same direction by passing in between them."

As Russo tried to pass a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado on a narrow left shoulder, police said, the left side of the truck collided with the right side of his motorcycle, knocking him off the bike. Though Russo was wearing a proper helmet, police said, he flew into a guardrail and died at the scene.

The driver of the Colorado, identified by police as Michael P. Stradley, 31, of Newark, Del., was wearing a seatbelt and was able to bring his truck to a stop on the right shoulder. He was not injured, police said. No charges are expected.

The deadly crash closed a northbound stretch of US-13 for five hours as police investigated.
