Crashed Butter Truck Clogs Hutchinson River Parkway for Hours

A tractor-trailer carrying butter crashed on the Hutchinson River Parkway Tuesday afternoon, clogging the traffic artery through the evening rush.

The truck was heading north on the parkway when it slammed into the King Street Bridge, near the New York-Connecticut state line, at around noon, police say. The truck burst into flames upon impact.

No one was injured, but the Hutchinson River Parkway was closed for hours as crews cleaned up.

It reopened at 6:30 p.m.

Tractor-trailers aren't permitted to travel on the parkway in part because of its low-hanging overpasses.
