Water Main Break Snarls Traffic in Montgomery County, Closes School

A water main broke causing troubles and a school closure in a Montgomery County town Wednesday morning.

The break at Berks and Walnut streets in Pottstown, Pennsylvania sent water into nearby homes and stopped traffic around 7:45 a.m.

Pottstown officials said by mid-morning the break, which occurred near Saint Michael’s Ukrainian Church, a Walmart and Barth Elementary School was under control. School officials closed Barth for the day as crews used heavy machinery on the break.

As SkyForce10 hovered overhead, crews could be seen digging in a large hole in the roadway.

No word yet on damage estimates.
